Forest Health
Overgrown forests and extreme weather conditions have made wildfire a year-round threat across the West. These efforts ensure our forests and communities can thrive for decades to come.
Community Wildfire Protection Program
Wildfire resilience starts long before smoke is in the air. EIP partners support residents and neighborhoods while delivering on-the-ground fuels work across the basin. We coordinate projects that strengthen defensible space and community readiness, expand prescribed fire, address infrastructure gaps, and improve protection in high-risk community areas and utility corridors.
Forest Restoration Program
We’re accelerating restoration across the Tahoe Basin so forests can keep up with a changing climate. The Forest Restoration Program supports projects that enhance habitat, strengthen resilience, and help forests rebound after wildfire and climate stress. In partnership with land managers, utilities, and private industry, the program helps scale on-the-ground work for long-term health.

The Tahoe Fire and Fuels Team unites partners across boundaries to restore forests, reduce wildfire risk, and build resilience to drought and extreme weather conditions. Together, we’re accelerating action to protect the Lake Tahoe Basin from catastrophic wildfire, make our communities safer, and our forests healthier.
